After one very difficult year, I am welcoming 2013 with open arms...and good resolutions. First of all I want to feel great, both physically and mentally. With my knowledge in nutrition and cooking, I will create a food plan to shift the extra pounds (stones?) accumulated in the last 12 months.
Thanks to my trainer Dmitri Tkatchev (@epochFitness) I will also focus on getting my fitness back with hard workouts. Losing weight is not the only objective of this programme, the ultimate goal is actually to feel re-energised and detoxified.
Mens sana in corpore sano. Bring on 2013!
Before the New Year starts:
My
Trainer asked me today if I had started eating healthier. I answered
that I was waiting for January 1st (or even 2nd...) as I couldn't force
myself to be good with food and alcohol during the festive period (I am
very motivated, but still very human). He told me to at least start
THINKING healthier from today. So let's go and plan!
The
first enemy of healthy eating is actually an empty fridge. It makes you
rush towards easy/junk/take-away food, bringing nothing but bad
calories to your body.
In order to avoid this situation, I would
recommend writing a shopping list with everything you need for the week
ahead, go to the supermarket and buy only what is on the list. (Wine and
chocolates will unfortunately have to wait for February..). I decided
to plan my menus week by week starting next Wednesday, Jan 2nd, so first
round of grocery shopping will be done the day before.
Working out is not only a good way to burn extra calories, it boosts endorphins (you will feel happier), tones the body and keeps your heart and brain fitter. After weeks of laziness on that front, I slowly came back to training this week, trying not to give up in front of the massive challenges ahead. According to Dmitri (www.epochfitness.co.uk), planning your workout week is as much as important as planning your food programme. Besides my personal Training sessions I will also attend classes at Bootcamp Pilates (http://www.bootcamppilates.com) and at The Life Centre (http://www.thelifecentre.com) and probably explore new venues.
So here I am, a bit scared by all the efforts i will have to make for this plan but very much looking forward to feeling good again. I hope it will motivate some of you to follow me, whether you have two kilos or fifteen to lose or if you just want to get your energy back.
Stay tuned for menus, workout and relaxation planning.
